33 Club
I love Old Town. On a nice day it is one of my favorite neighborhoods to walk and explore. There are lots of great shops and specialty stores to check out and of course there is some darn good dining to be had as well. Restaurateur Jerry Kleiner brings his signature style to the 33 Club, located in the heart of Old Town. This vibrant restaurant has the signature balcony that allows guests a grand view of the entire restaurant.

33 Club is definitely stylish, but how does the food stack up? If the first course is any indication, then very well indeed. Jumbo Buffalo shrimp prove to be very addicting! These tender shrimp are lightly battered, covered in a medium hot sauce, and accompanied by some of the creamiest blue cheese dressing around! Forget about wings, grab some friends, cold beers, and about 10 plates of these shrimp and you are in guy heaven!

For some a meal isn’t a meal without soup, so a bowl of lobster bisque was in order. This velvety smooth soup was loaded with large chunks of lobster and a healthy helping of al dente potatoes. Soup this good can be enjoyed any time of year. While the starters are both solid, it’s time to get down to a couple of American favorites.

Nothing is more American than fried chicken. Do it right and you simply close your eyes and let your senses overtake you. Do it wrong and you might as well have gotten it from a drive thru. As soon as this steaming plate of buttermilk fried chicken was set down, I knew I was in for a treat! Tangy, salty, moist, and oh so crunchy, this plate of chicken turns you into a finger lickin’ fool! Sure there are fancier things to order on the menu, but if you skip this chicken you are doing yourself a disservice!

A second entrée was ordered tonight, and while it didn’t blow my socks off like the chicken, it sure didn’t disappoint. I love steak, I love toppings on steak, and I really love variety. This is when the filet trio comes and brings another smile to my face. Three petit filets each topped with their own delicious crust. Blue cheese, horseradish and parmesan crusted filets a simple pleasure that I indulge in every chance I get!

You aren’t one of those people that skips dessert are you? Of course not! If you were you would miss out on some dynamite peach cobbler and sinful red velvet cake. When it comes to dessert my favorite spice is cinnamon hands down! With every bite of that cobbler I simply close my eyes and indulge in the sweet taste and aroma of cinnamon. Moist red velvet cake is their signature dessert and it is definitely worth a try if you can pry yourself away from the cobbler.

Dinner for two with a couple of adult beverages should be below $100 even with tip. Applebee’s it is not, but I’ve paid more for less on more than one occasion. Overall 33 Club offers cool style, impressive food, for about the right price. Rating *** out of ****.
